E-Blast

Happy holidays from the faculty and staff at I.T. Creswell!  Don’t miss these important announcements and events:

Tomorrow, December 20 – Half day for all students.  Dismissal is at 11:30 a.m.

December 23 – January 6 – Winter Holidays – No school

Girls on the Run may be coming to Creswell!  VOLUNTEERS Needed!  This is an exciting program that we are hoping to offer to our girls this spring.  It not only prepares its participants to complete a 3.1 mile run/walk, it also uses a fun, 12-week curriculum to teach them how to deal with the challenges they face every day: peer pressure, bullying, self-esteem and more.  We are still looking for a head coach and a few volunteers to get the program up and running here at Creswell.  Practices are twice a week for an hour and a half after school.  If you are in any way able to help or know someone who is able to help, please contact Lesli Hall at lesli.hall@mnps.org or 812-8300.  Thank you!

ATTENTION PARENTS:  THE PTSO NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!  See their note below:

The PTSO will be hosting our third annual Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Valentine's Dance on February 14th. 2014.  Tickets will go on sale around the end of January.  We will be serving a Sunday style dinner with all the fixings as well as having a D, so everyone can dance the night away!

This event is NOT a fundraiser but an opportunity to come together and celebrate the holiday with our family and friends. We do want this to be an affordable, memorable and fun evening, though, and so we will be holding our first silent auction! We hope that this will make the evening more exciting - as well as helping us to recover some of the cost, too.

We are asking for all students to help us put together prize baskets, so that each grade level will have their own basket to auction.  The basket themes for each grade are below, but if you do not know what to donate you can certainly send $3.00 in an envelope to the PTSO, through your homeroom teacher, and we will add to the baskets for you!

5th grade - GOURMET KITCHEN BASKET

6th grade - SPA BASKET

7th grade - ENTERTAINMENT BASKET

8th grade - PET BASKET

We have several leads that will help us put together other themed baskets as well. We have invited a photographer to take family photos, and so we hope you will come "dressed to impress," spend the evening with us, and bid on some great baskets, gift cards, and more!

Thank you for all that you do, Paula and Deidra

Nashville Next

This is an opportunity presented to us by our district PAC (Parent Advisory Council) representative and the Metro Nashville Planning Department:

Happy Holidays! As we continue the NashvilleNext process, we still need your input! We are expected to add another 200,000 people and 300,000 jobs to our community over the next 25 years. Help us decide where new growth should go within Davidson County by participating in the interactive growth mapping activity that can be accessed easily from your computer or smart device.  Your submission will become part of the input that planners and the community will consider as we draft a plan to guide our city’s growth through 2040.  Please see the flyer link here for more information!

Helpful hints about the Optional Schools Application

Good morning, present and future Creswell families!

The Optional Schools Application is now live on the MNPS website and facebook page.  The school is also sending a paper form home with your child today - so check those backpacks!

A few helpful tips that we've been able to gather sofar:

  • You will need your child's Student ID# in order to complete the application.  These can be found through your GradeSpeed account; the Front Office is not able to supply Student ID/information over the phone.
  • If you believe that your child meets the requirements for an academic magnet school that does not appear on the online form, a paper form must be submitted.
Do you have a tip to share?  Send it to us!
