Principal’s Report
- Enrollment for next year closes on 5/22 and we do still have openings – we are five students away from an additional teacher in 7th grade, and 10 students away in both 5th and 6th grade. We have 452 students currently enrolled.
- We will be starting a National Junior Honors Society with the help of Ms. Hoskins – Enduction will be held on the 5/25 at Pearl-Cohn.
- We are still on target for the 3/5 year implementation for ACE Architecture / Industrial Design.
- On 5/22 30 arts students will be attending the installation for the Bordeaux community commemorating the flood. The installation will be on Tucker Road.
- On 4/30 three teachers are travelling to the Civil Rights Memorial as part of the curation arts education program, instructing teachers on how to installation and curation – developing students as both producers and consumers of art. Projected plans for these skills include a garden in the courtyard complex on school grounds.
- The Northwest YMCA and Creswell are in talks about creating a baseball field in between the two buildings, which will also facilitate the paving of a walkway between campuses.
- School benchmark scores have improved over the year – we are looking forward to TCAP!
Elections
- Elections for 2013/14 school year will be held on 5/14
- 2 year terms; nomination forms are located in the most recent e-blast
- The PAC (Parent Advisory Council) is now open to the public, and Dr. Murcray will nominate two reps with voting rights by the August meeting.
ACET
Angel Thompson joined us from the ASET Academy, bringing information about a new partnership in afterschool care. ASET offers training in Dance, Voice, Tumbling, and other programs that integrate well with the ITC Arts theme; students are currently bussed to the Inspiration Center afterschool, but plans and stretch goals will hopefully bring an in-house program to ITC. http://asetacademy.org/
Picaboo Yearbooks
A presentation was also made for a potential new yearbook partner: Picaboo. Picaboo offers fundraising as well as individually customizable yearbooks that would work well with the involved student lives here at ITC. Information was presented to Dr. Murcray, who will review and discuss with the current yearbook staff.
Fundraisers
Ann would like to come back to discuss Little Lambs cookie dough fundraiser options for next year. Plans to launch a cookie dough campaign will need to be finalized so that we can begin implementing and be ready for the first week of school.
